I've had four major back surgeries over the past 12 months, with the last one being a 4 level fusion of my lumbar spine. The Vyper Chair has allowed me to return to my wood shop and work comfortably on projects. Everything about this chair is Top-Tier, right down to the stitching in the leather seat. Adjusting the optional back rest is intuitive and the CNC knurled knob is massive, which allows you to adjust the angle while sitting in the char. Setting the cushy back rest to the right height is super easy to accomplish, thanks to the oversized adjusting knob. The locking rolling casters actually work, are well engineered, although a bit cranky at first. I applied a small amount of silicone lubricant to them, which made them silky smooth to engage and disengage. The wide stance of the chair makes it extremely stable. I purchased the Elevated Steel Max, due to my 32" high shop benches and it has more than enough height adjustment, allowing me to dial the seat height in to my liking. Everything about this chair screams 'Made In America'. It's a chair that will outlive you, the kind that gets passed down to the next generation of makers, mechanics and maintainers. It has given me back the ability to work in my shop, all day long. It's worth every single penny and void of 'buyer's remorse'. You will never regret purchasing one. Ever!

Customer photo review of 4" WHEEL LOCK

I already sent this via email. The quality of what was shipped did not match the ones that came with the stool. Very disappointing as the lock never engages the caster. You could ship 3 caster locks that match the original ones that came with the stool.

My floor is very erratic (old house) . I needed more braking to keep the chair stable and in place at my bench. Works a lot better now..

Poor quality. Poor instructions, Nut did not fit supplied bolt. Poorly milled. Had to buy new bolt and nut at Lowes. Instructions do not show that folded steel tab on lock must fit into slot on existing wheel. This kit is VERY DIFFERENT QUALITY than the Vyper chair, which has outstanding quality, fit and instructions.

I wish my chair would of came with this option 6 years ago when I bought my first vyper chair really handy feature.

Great product, and I did order the easy lift chair, and I ordered the kick, the tool tray, and the adjustable back, rest, and Two Wells, and also the arm rest. But when I ordered it, they failed to tell me that the armrests is not compatible to EZ lift chair. So now I have to mail it back and then get reimbursed. I’m gonna say, I do love my EZ lift chair.

I think your chairs are made extremely well and they look amazing. Unfortunately, I returned the chair because they are not comfortable or supportive. You need to make the seat square with more length and width to support your legs. The back rest is tiny and does almost nothing. You should make the back rest noticeably larger in width and especially height so it really supports your back/lumbar etc. If you did that, you would have the best stool ever made. I ended up buying a Uline adjustable stool that has a seat and back support as I mentioned even though it is not made anywhere near as well as Vypers. Thanks

Awesome accessories to add to the hyper chair

My Vyper shop stool wasn't very stable in my garage shop which has a coated floor. Even with two wheel locks, the other three wheels would move slightly which made the stool a bit hard to climb onto. I ordered two additional wheel locks which did the job of making the wheels easy to hold steady in place. It would seem natural that all five wheels would have locks for such a high-quality shop tool like the Vyper.

Tw0 wheels cracked and began falling apart. So I went to Vyper's website and ordered 2 new 4" wheels with locks. In turns out I ordered just the locks. I contacted customer support, explained my problem. Photos where requested and submitted. I received an email not long after, advising me two new wheels would be shipped. I received the wheels about three days later and put them on. I was not surprised because Vyper manufactures great products, built to last. Customer support matches their products, absolutely awesome. So if you are reading this review, attempting to decide whether this chair is worth the money. For sure, without a doubt! One other thing, so is their Customer Support Team. FIVE STAR

It does what it is supposed to do. You can apply it and it stays and unlock it with ease and move accordingly.

My floor is a bit rough. These 4" casters roll much better.

4" WHEEL LOCK

Easy install. Locks wheel securely, easy to operate.

Are you kidding me? This righteous shop chair is adding years onto my life and quality of workspace. The only question I have is why I didn't I purchase Vyper years sooner? Thank the heck out of you!!

4" WHEEL LOCK

Works greak, recommend all future rolling devices come with at least on brake

4" WHEEL LOCK

Good construction. Price is way too high for what this is.

As you can see, I love my chairs so much that I put them inside as my Island chairs for enjoying television and eating dinner

Great chair, just wish the butt pad was a little farther away from the backrest. Looks killer. Stitching color contrast is awesome.

4" WHEEL LOCK

Luv the brakes but should be included in purchases it rolls away to easy on my driveway almost dangerous…..Highly recommend that you include with low pro…

I'VE USED THE WHEELS TO REPAIR/UPGRADE SEVERAL OF MY CUSTOMER'S TOOLS; A TOPSIDE CREEPER WITH WORN OUT WHEELS AND A MINI MOBILE TOOL BOX/SEAT THAT HAD JUNK WHEELS ON IT. WORKED FANTASTIC ON BOTH. JUST LIKE THE MANY VYPER CHAIRS I'VE SOLD, THE WHEELS ARE TOP SHELF.

4" WHEEL LOCK

Great chair but some rubber wheels options would be nice as well as a thin rubber mat option on the bottom tray (robust steel sport is what I have) so the tools don't make so much noise when your wheeling around.

4" WHEEL LOCK

The lock is either off or all locked. Wish it had a resistance setting so I could move the chair but it wont roll away.

4" WHEEL LOCK

I initially had some concerns because I had some outdated casters that were not compatible with the locking mechanism; however I was able to update my current chair with outstanding and prompt Customer Service (kudos to Bryan). The locking mechanism is simple but effective and it assures my wife that she will not see her disabled vet rolling out the sloped garage. Semper Fi Ben J.

great chair -- very sturdy -- A lot of money for a chair but well worth it --

4" WHEEL LOCK

These are simple to install, and work as they are supposed to. I felt I needed more than the two that were included and sure enough the extra locks gave me the solid feel I was looking for.

4" WHEEL LOCK

I do like the wheel lock. I am disappointed that I had to pay almost $40 to buy 3 more locks so the elevated steel doesn’t move. I think it should come with locks on all wheels. I do love my new chair though and look forward to many years with it!

4" WHEEL LOCK

Great addition because the chair is so smooth.

4" WHEEL LOCK

Excellent quality!!! Very organized packaging and easy to follow instructions for assembling.

4" WHEEL LOCK

Awesome chairs!

4" WHEEL LOCK

This was needed as I have a sloped driveway and have had to chase my chair several times after getting up.

4" WHEEL LOCK

I kept rolling out my garage while working on a project. What a pain in the arse. No longer a problem! Thanks for thinking of everything needed to help me get my job done.

4" WHEEL LOCK

These wheel locks did just what they are supposed to. Unfortunately my vyper chair rolled a little too nicely before and decided to roll out of my garage and down my stairs which ended up damaging the back rest. These locks ensure that won’t happen again! Love my vyper chairs

4" WHEEL LOCK

Would much rather you just sell a new wheel with the lock. For say 35-40 per wheel, it would be much better option. I understand why yo sell this option, but offering both option would be great. Truthfully this is really a 2 star.

LET'S TALK SHOP

Everything you need to know before you upgrade.

This is a big purchase. What if I'm not satisfied?

We get it. The price is more than you've spent on a shop chair/stool/cart before, and you can't sit in it before you buy it. That's why every Vyper purchase comes with a 30-day, 100% money-back guarantee. Roll it, sit in it, put it through a real weekend in your shop. If it's not what we said it was, send it back. We'll refund every penny and cover the return shipping.

The lifetime warranty on the frame, hardware, and casters covers you long after the 30 days are up. If you have questions before or after purchase, call (920) 301-3822 and you'll reach a real person at our Green Bay headquarters. Not a chatbot, not an offshore call center. The team that builds your chair is the team that picks up the phone.

We've built this so the risk is on us, not you.

How do I know which Vyper Chair is right for me?

Quick decision tree based on the work you do:

Working at standard workbench height? Robust Steel Max chair (or Robust Steel Pro stool if you don't need a backrest or adjustability).

Working at tall fab tables, weld benches, or counter-height workstations? Our Elevated Steel Max chair.

Detailing, polishing, or any work close to the ground? Low Pro stool. For ultra-low work (wheels, baseboards, lower body panels), pair it with a Mini Creeper.

Working under cars, trucks, or anything that needs an undercar position? Lay-Down Creeper. Foldable Creeper if you need a portable secondary.

Need mobile tool storage that rolls between bays? X32 Series Tool Cart.

Hot summers in the shop with no AC? Vyper Turbo Fan 24".

If your work cycles between multiple positions (which most working shops do), check our bundles. We've configured packages around the way buyers actually work.

Still unsure? Call us at (920) 301-3822. Real humans in Green Bay who can walk you through the right pick for your shop.

I already have a shop stool, why should I upgrade?

Honest answer: if your current stool works for you, doesn't hurt your back, doesn't tip when you reach, doesn't have foam that's flat, and isn't on its way to the dumpster within a year or two, you don't need to upgrade.

But that's not why most buyers come to us. Most buyers upgrade because they've owned three or four cheap stools at $80 to $150 each and they're tired of the cycle. Foam compresses. Wheels break. Frames bend. Welds pop. Within two years, the stool is junk and they're shopping again.

A Vyper chair starts around $475 and includes a lifetime warranty on the frame, hardware, and casters. Buy once. Sit comfortably. Stop replacing every couple of years. The math works out over a decade.

The other reason buyers upgrade: the cheap stool was hurting them. Bad foam, no lumbar support, low weight capacity, narrow seat. After 30 years of trade work, that stool wasn't doing them any favors. The Vyper is the chair that finally lets them keep working without paying for it the next morning.

Is Vyper actually made in the USA?

Yes. Every chair, stool, cart, and creeper is designed, welded, powder-coated, and assembled in Wisconsin. Built here, by Americans, on American soil.

The team that builds your equipment is the same team you'll talk to if you call customer service. Pioneering shop equipment manufacturing in the U.S. since 2020.

When you buy a Vyper, you're paying American workers, not subsidizing factories overseas. That matters to a lot of our customers. It matters to us too.

Are Vyper products good for older buyers, people with bad backs, or those with mobility issues?

A real pattern across our reviews: customers in their 60s, 70s, and 80s, customers with back surgeries, amputees, customers with sciatica, and customers with bad knees explicitly mention Vyper as the equipment that lets them keep working in the shop.

A few specific reasons why:

The Robust Steel Max and Elevated Steel Max chairs have lumbar-support backrests and 3.5-inch industrial foam seats. The smooth EZ-Lift height adjustment lets you dial in the exact position your back needs without fighting a stuck pin. The five-caster anti-tip base keeps the chair planted when you're sitting down or standing up.

The Big Boy attachment is the most-recommended upgrade for older buyers. The wider seat means you don't have to perfectly center yourself when sitting down, and the wider surface gives you leverage to push off when standing. Reviewers explicitly mention this as a confidence upgrade for buyers worried about getting in and out of the chair safely.

The Adjustable Armrest gives older buyers something solid to grip while sitting down or standing up. Multiple reviewers in their 70s and 80s call this a safety upgrade, not a comfort one. Customers with mobility limitations and amputees mention the armrests as the reason they can use the chair independently.

The Adjustable Backrest is the upgrade for buyers with sciatica, spinal surgeries, or chronic back issues. The height adjustment puts lumbar support exactly where it needs to be. The 10-degree tilt lets you change positions throughout the day instead of being locked into one angle.

The Mini Creeper and Low Pro stool keep you off the concrete for low work. Buyers who can't kneel anymore use these for the wheel detailing, brake jobs, baseboards, and outlet wiring that used to mean kneeling on the floor.

If you have specific concerns about whether a Vyper product is right for your situation, call us at (920) 301-3822 before ordering. Real humans in Green Bay who can talk through your specific needs and recommend the right configuration.

Gear worth your workspace.

Build your dream garage with chairs, carts, creepers and fans that are guaranteed to outlast anything else in your shop.
