Absolutely love my Freedom edition. Only thing I would suggest is putting together a set of instructions on putting it together when using the adjustable arm rest and adjustable back rest. Must admit , part of the issue may well have been my excitement at putting it all together instead of getting any sleep after a 29 hour excursion!!
The stool is incredibly comfortable. I sit in mine most all day, and it is FUN!!! The back, arm, and seat just take it to the next level!!!
the edging is terrible. Does not adjust high enough to rest against in comfort. I will never buy this product again or recommend the expensive item. Not to mention the discounts are a joke.
The adjustable backrest added to this chair is like putting icing on a cake, it’s a must have. I should have just bought all options from the beginning. My chair is now LOADED with the Big Boy attachment, adjustable arm rests and now the adjustable backrest. Great products VYPER !!
Hate to admit i’m an older guy now and my old chair from my local tool truck dealer is the same way first thing i did after i assembled my new rock star vyper chair was put them together for a comparison the old one is time to retire never had one with an adjustable backrest before money well spent for a guy with a wore out chassis thanks alot

Added the adjustable back rest. I like the extra height, and being able to custom set the angle. That being said, Ill likely never touch it again.
Definitely a superb product. This is my third stool. I did have a little trouble installing the bolts to mount the backrest to the seat cushion. As I would get close to seating the bolts, they would get extremely hard to turn. I backed them all back out and used a tap to make sure the threads were clear. I also ran the bolts through a die to remove some of the paint on the threads. After this the bolts seated fully and I didn't strip out any of the inserts!
Everything works great. Only complaint I have is the tool trays and backrests were delivered at different times than my chairs. So I had to wait for everything to assemble them. Kind wish I ordered 2 backrests instead of 1 though.
After finally convincing myself to get the Vyper chairs I couldn’t be happier, these chairs are truly built rock solid. Excellent quality, precision engineering, and very comfortable. I also love the Freedom paint job!

My backrest seems very sturdy. I’m still waiting for the stool to mount it on.
There are 10 bolt holes, but they only provided 6 bolts and 4 plastic plugs. It feels sturdy but the extra hardware for security would have been nice.
This little back rest is better than sliced bread if your going to sit on the low stool for more than an hour. I wouldn't be with out it.

I use my viper at many different levels and and need to adjust the back of the seat quite often. I simple reach down, find the nicely milled adjustment cylinder and that's it.
I’m an old guy (85 YO) with a bad back and find this a necessity for sitting a long time while I work.
I like the extra hight because I am older and also the adjustments. I would have like instructions instead of the Q code because I am 80 and do not like co line instructions. If had paper it would not have taken as long to put together.
This addition adds to the comfort of this chair. Glad I added it.
The chair itself is very nice. While discussing my order with Vyper I was led to believe that it came assembled. I say this because when I asked if the standard components (back rest) could be swapped out for the adjustable one. The answer was no, we used to do that but it takes too long to un-pack, swap out and re-pack. It wasn’t assembled. The assembly instructions confused this 50 year aircraft mechanic. Do this before that…oh wait, don’t do that if this…. Suggest at this price the manual should be clear perhaps a few cents spent on manuals for different configurations; arm rest, big boy, back rest.

The parts and the chair are well-made nice thick, nuts and bolts.Very solid Going to buy a few accessories to add onto it, but this is my last chair. The adjustment capability is great. My only wish would be for a larger back pad to be used with the big boy seat. It just seems out of proportion.
I put the adjustable back rest on the taller seat as I felt like it would be needed more when working at a work bench. I was right not really needed for the shorter seat but makes a nice comfortable work bench seat. Happy that I purchased this add on.
It arrived quickly. So fast in fact i dont have the rest of the stool yet. It was packed really well. The assembly instructions were clear. I have it built waiting for the rest of the stool. What accessories are available for Vyper chairs and stools?
The most-purchased Vyper accessories are the Adjustable Backrest, Adjustable Armrest, Big Boy, Tool Tray, and Sidekick. Each one solves a specific problem:
- Adjustable Backrest: Replaces the stock backrest with a 10° tilt and 4" of height adjustment, for buyers who want to dial in lumbar support exactly.
- Adjustable Armrest: A solid grip for sitting down and standing up, and most importantly, to improve posture / stability.
- Big Boy: Adds 7" of seat width, for larger frame buyers or anyone who wants more room and stability.
- Tool Tray: Bolts to the underside of the chair to hold sockets, loose bolts, and shop rags.

What's the difference between the Sidekick and the Tool Tray, and do I need both?
The Sidekick mounts on the side of the chair for what you're actively using (spray bottles, polishers, microfibers, a cold drink), while the Tool Tray bolts underneath for what you've already used or what might fall (loose bolts, dropped sockets, shop rags, small parts).
They're built to work together, not against each other. Detailers and fabricators who run the Complete Package (Robust Steel Max + Tool Tray + Sidekick) consistently say the two-accessory combo turns the chair into a real mobile workstation. Sidekick at hand for the polisher you're using right now, Tool Tray below for the spent microfibers and parts. If you can only pick one, the Tool Tray is the accessory most buyers later say they wish they'd added from day one.
Can I use the Big Boy and the Sidekick together on the same chair?
No. The Big Boy and the Sidekick cannot be installed on the same chair, they mount in the same location and you have to pick one. Our specialists at (920) 301-3822 can walk you through the right choice if you're not sure.
The decision is usually clean. If you're a larger-frame buyer (or an older buyer wanting more leverage when standing), get the Big Boy. If you're a detailer, fabricator, or anyone who works with supplies at the seat all day, get the Sidekick. The Adjustable Backrest, Adjustable Armrest, and Tool Tray all work with either choice, so you don't lose any other accessories by picking one over the other.
Is the Adjustable Backrest worth the upgrade over the stock backrest?
For most buyers, the stock backrest is built right and works exactly as designed. The Adjustable Backrest is the upgrade for the buyer who lives in the chair, taller height range, up to 10° of recline, and the ability to dial in the support position to your specific body and the way you actually work.
Roughly half of buyers add it during initial chair configuration. The other half buy it months later, after deciding they want to fine-tune the backrest position even further. Reviewers consistently describe it as the upgrade that turns the chair from "comfortable" into "I never want to get up." Who should buy the Big Boy attachment?

Can I add Vyper accessories to a chair I already own?
Yes. Every Vyper accessory is designed to bolt onto chairs already in your shop, you don't have to buy them at the same time as the chair. Roughly half of buyers add accessories during the initial chair configuration. The other half buy them weeks or months later, after deciding what they actually need.
The Tool Tray, Sidekick, Big Boy, Adjustable Backrest, and Adjustable Armrest all install with basic hand tools and ship with instructions and hardware included. If you bought your Vyper chair years ago, the accessories from today's lineup are still compatible with the standard chair models. Which Vyper accessories work with the Low-Pro and Robust Steel Pro stools?
The Vyper Backrest add-on works on the Robust Steel Pro and the Low-Pro Backrest works on the Low Pro, for buyers who started with a stool form factor and decided they wanted lumbar support after the fact.
The Big Boy is not compatible with the Low-Pro, but is compatible with the Robust Steel Sport. The Tool Tray and Sidekick are designed primarily for the Robust Steel Max and Elevated Steel Max chair frames. For a stool-specific tool-holding solution, the Robust Steel Pro ships with a built-in stationary tool tray as a standard feature, no add-on required.
