Best shop chair I have ever owned looked up on web and found viper brought 1 liked it my wife sat in it she had to have 1 brought the 2nd elevated it was to high gave her mine needed the lower one brought 3 one. Now I have 3 viper chairs and I love 💕 all 3 thanks viper you got me for life oh yeah also brought the creeper love all viper products made in the USA!!!!
I like the functionality but I have to say installing was difficult because I wanted the armrest to be as close to the seat extensions as possible, which created resistance and getting the through bolts in for the armrest was very difficult. Also the thumb bolts for holding the armrest pad pads are too small to tighten adequately to lock the armrest in place. So they are always sliding around.
It's fine
This is a fantastic accessory for the Vyper chair. The parts are made of heavy gauge steel, and there is flexibility in how wide the arm rests attach. This gives you plenty of room if you are on the wide side, and it will still be incredibly sturdy. My only regret is that I didn’t see the small hotlink on the ordering page to edit the order and change the color to match the rest of the chair. That’s O.K., I’ll get it right on the next chair!
this is a must for the chair I had purchased earlier; the arm rest brings stability & comfort to the chair when getting on & off the chair. without the arm rest I didn't feel comfortable getting on as I was afraid it would roll out from me. GREAT product Andy

It just makes my entire garage look very kool. Plus it is very comfortable to use.
The armrest are fine. The knobs on the bottom don’t stay tight and I have one of the wheels on the chair that no matter what way I lock lock or unlock it it drags.
i really like the arm rest because due to a medical condition I need the arms to assist me when I get up out of the chair. The only other thing that would improve on it would be that the side-kick could be used with it. Thanks for making a great product.

I love my new shop chair. I want to make that perfectly clear. This review is simply to say that you shouldn’t have let me order both the cup and tool holder as well as the adjustable arms. Only one or the other can be used and give the number of bolts required to put this together it’s not a simple process to switch them out all the time.

Great Chair! I have the Robust steel EZ lift with Big Boy seat and the adjustable seat back with adjustable arm rests. I am using it for my office chair as I think it will be a better fit for comfort. So far I love it as it really helps my posture at the desk. I was a mechanic for 25 years before doing this work and wished for a chair like this numerous times. I will give another update once I have used it for a bit.
Really comfortable
Well built chair & very stable . Glad I got the big boy seat and arm rest. Had to move arm rest in a hole. Tight fit but it worked out.So far it’s being used as a computer chair in my wood shop. Might get the adjustable back rest in the future. It’s nice to spoil yourself every now and then. Wife will get over it someday. Ha!

This is the third item I have gotten from Vyper. Started with chair and then fat boy seat and added the armrest. Quality workmanship throughout. Some difficulty with written instructions. Printed text was pretty weak. Thank God for Youtube.

I should have bought this at the same time as the stool. It seems like every part I buy for this chair requires almost complete disassembly before I can attach it to the stool. I would have so much easier to just do everything at once.

What accessories are available for Vyper chairs and stools?
The most-purchased Vyper accessories are the Adjustable Backrest, Adjustable Armrest, Big Boy, Tool Tray, and Sidekick. Each one solves a specific problem:
- Adjustable Backrest: Replaces the stock backrest with a 10° tilt and 4" of height adjustment, for buyers who want to dial in lumbar support exactly.
- Adjustable Armrest: A solid grip for sitting down and standing up, and most importantly, to improve posture / stability.
- Big Boy: Adds 7" of seat width, for larger frame buyers or anyone who wants more room and stability.
- Tool Tray: Bolts to the underside of the chair to hold sockets, loose bolts, and shop rags.
- Sidekick: Side-mounted attachment with cup holders, a tool holder, and storage for spray bottles, polishers, and shop towels.

What's the difference between the Sidekick and the Tool Tray, and do I need both?
The Sidekick mounts on the side of the chair for what you're actively using (spray bottles, polishers, microfibers, a cold drink), while the Tool Tray bolts underneath for what you've already used or what might fall (loose bolts, dropped sockets, shop rags, small parts).
They're built to work together, not against each other. Detailers and fabricators who run the Complete Package (Robust Steel Max + Tool Tray + Sidekick) consistently say the two-accessory combo turns the chair into a real mobile workstation. Sidekick at hand for the polisher you're using right now, Tool Tray below for the spent microfibers and parts. If you can only pick one, the Tool Tray is the accessory most buyers later say they wish they'd added from day one.
Can I use the Big Boy and the Sidekick together on the same chair?
No. The Big Boy and the Sidekick cannot be installed on the same chair, they mount in the same location and you have to pick one. Our specialists at (920) 301-3822 can walk you through the right choice if you're not sure.
The decision is usually clean. If you're a larger-frame buyer (or an older buyer wanting more leverage when standing), get the Big Boy. If you're a detailer, fabricator, or anyone who works with supplies at the seat all day, get the Sidekick. The Adjustable Backrest, Adjustable Armrest, and Tool Tray all work with either choice, so you don't lose any other accessories by picking one over the other.
Is the Adjustable Backrest worth the upgrade over the stock backrest?
For most buyers, the stock backrest is built right and works exactly as designed. The Adjustable Backrest is the upgrade for the buyer who lives in the chair, taller height range, up to 10° of recline, and the ability to dial in the support position to your specific body and the way you actually work.
Roughly half of buyers add it during initial chair configuration. The other half buy it months later, after deciding they want to fine-tune the backrest position even further. Reviewers consistently describe it as the upgrade that turns the chair from "comfortable" into "I never want to get up." Compatible with the Robust Steel Max and Elevated Steel Max chairs, and pairs with either the Big Boy or the Sidekick.
Who should buy the Big Boy attachment?
The Big Boy adds 7" of additional seat width, built for two specific buyers: larger-frame customers (280 lbs and up, or anyone who finds the standard seat too narrow) and older buyers who want more leverage when sitting down and standing up.
Reviewers consistently call it a confidence upgrade. The wider seat means you don't have to perfectly center yourself when sitting, and the wider surface gives you something to push off when standing. It's the most-recommended upgrade in the Vyper review base for buyers in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. Available on all Vyper chairs except the Low-Pro and Robust Steel Sport. Cannot be combined with the Sidekick.
Can I add Vyper accessories to a chair I already own?
Yes. Every Vyper accessory is designed to bolt onto chairs already in your shop, you don't have to buy them at the same time as the chair. Roughly half of buyers add accessories during the initial chair configuration. The other half buy them weeks or months later, after deciding what they actually need.
The Tool Tray, Sidekick, Big Boy, Adjustable Backrest, and Adjustable Armrest all install with basic hand tools and ship with instructions and hardware included. If you bought your Vyper chair years ago, the accessories from today's lineup are still compatible with the standard chair models. Which Vyper accessories work with the Low-Pro and Robust Steel Pro stools?
The Vyper Backrest add-on works on the Robust Steel Pro and the Low-Pro Backrest works on the Low Pro, for buyers who started with a stool form factor and decided they wanted lumbar support after the fact.
The Big Boy is not compatible with the Low-Pro, but is compatible with the Robust Steel Sport. The Tool Tray and Sidekick are designed primarily for the Robust Steel Max and Elevated Steel Max chair frames. For a stool-specific tool-holding solution, the Robust Steel Pro ships with a built-in stationary tool tray as a standard feature, no add-on required.
